**COVID19 Update – we have moved to online clinics!**
In view of guidance from both the British government and our own professional governing bodies, our clinic doors are currently closed to non-urgent face to face physiotherapy consultations. We do, however, continue to remain open to our clients – new and old! – via the medium of the internet.
We are running online physiotherapy consultations (telehealth consultations), online clinical Pilates classes, and online one to one Pilates sessions.
Physiotherapy is not just about the “hands on” treatment. As experienced physiotherapists, our team have a wealth of knowledge and skills to be able to help our clients remotely. To run these online consultations and classes, we are using a secure video conferencing platform – this allows us to view you as well as you to see us.
What this means is we can listen, talk, educate, advise, guide and support you through injury/pain and rehabilitation. We can assess you – movement range, patterns of movement, muscle control. We can visually assess bruising/swelling/signs of injury and pathology. We can make diagnoses based on visual and verbal assessments. We can educate you on your condition/symptoms. We can demonstrate exercise programmes and watch you doing those exercises to correct technique. We can teach you self management/manual techniques such as trigger point release, myofascial stretching, neural gliders. We can send you over additional information plus a record of your exercises post session, and book in for follow up consultations to keep on top of your progress. With more people having to work from home during the restrictions, you may benefit from a “workplace” assessment – we can view your sitting posture/desk set up and advise on improvements and exercises to manage build up of related tension.
The online clinical Pilates classes are a great way to maintain some mental as well as physical well-being during this period of social isolation. It is an hour of “you” time – focusing on your own body – your movement, your breathing, your muscle control. You also have opportunity at the start and end of the clinic to catch up with others in the class.
If you would prefer a more focused one to one session, then we offer those as well! If you are new to Pilates it is advisable to have the one to one online session first, prior to starting the classes. This will enable you to learn the technique thoroughly as well as an opportunity for the instructor to get to know you and your own personal goals, so that we can check we are achieving those goals in the classes.
Our classes and one to one sessions are taken by experienced physiotherapists who are also trained with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) so approached from a clinical perspective and beneficial for recovery from or management of both acute and chronic conditions. We can modify the session depending on your individual requirement.
