Sophia Storrar MSc BSc MCSP GradDipEd

Chartered Physiotherapist and Pilates Clinic Consultant

Sophia graduated from Keele University with an MSc in Physiotherapy. Her specialist interest is in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and Postnatal Rehabilitation.  She has also trained with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) and is a certified Pilates Instructor, providing both one to one instruction and small group sessions at CoActive Physio. As a result of hard training regimes throughout her life and preparation for endurance events , Sophia has experienced first hand the benefits of Pilates on improved strength, flexibility and stability, together with improved mental well being, and she loves seeing these benefits in her clients too. With an extensive career in health and fitness preceding her physiotherapy training, Sophia has a wealth of knoweldge and expertise enabling her to help her clients achieve their health and fitness goals.

Prior to her Physiotherapy training, Sophia graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Human Movement from The University of  Western Australia in 2001, majoring in physiology and biomechanics. Having trained and competed at national level in the swimming pool and participated at club level in many other sports, Sophia’s interests remained with physical education and coaching so it was a natural move to gain a teaching qualification through a Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary) with a major in P.E. and Minor in Science in 2002.

During her university years, she qualified as a sports trainer, lifesaver and swimming teacher, delivered children’s swimming programmes as well as coaching an over 50’s swimming squad at the university pool and umpiring college netball and softball. Sophia continued her passion for training and exercise by joining the Australian Army Reserve and was awarded the Physical Training Prize .

Her thirst for travelling the world saw Sophia leave Australia in 2003 and find teaching supply jobs in England. Whilst travelling Europe and the UK, Sophia met her husband and settled in Chester in 2008, where they married and started a family. Sophia has 17 years teaching experience in a range of schools in England and Australia and has many other qualifications as part of her role in education, including her Mental Health First Aid Certifícate. She continues to challenge herself physically, particularly in long distance swimming events, crossing the English Channel in 2018 in a three-person relay team and was aiming for a solo crossing in August 2020, although sadly the COVID19 pandemic put paid to that goal.

Sophia has been a valued part of the CoActive Team for several years now and continues to offer dedicated and expert care to her clients.
