Abi Okell BSc MCSP
Senior Chartered Physiotherapist
Abi Graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in 2010 with a first-class honours degree in Physiotherapy, and is currently studying a Masters in Sport and Exercise Medicine. Her first role after graduating from university was in the NHS, where she worked in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings, and developed her passion for musculoskeletal physiotherapy. Abi is particularly interested in lower limb injuries and exercise rehabilitation.
In 2012, Abi left the NHS and headed to the French Alps for two winters, assessing and treating ski and snowboard injuries. This lead to working alongside British Parasnowsport and travelling with them to both training and race events, including World Championships and PyeongChang Winter Paralympic Games in 2018. Abi is now a key member of the support staff working with GB Snowsport and loves spending time in the mountains with them and supporting the alpine athletes on their journey to Beijing Winter Olympics 2022.
Abi also works as part of the support team for British Gymnastics and GB Taekwondo, and has volunteered at elite sporting events including the 2017 IAAF World Athletics Championships in London.
As well as using traditional physiotherapy assessment and treatment techniques, Abi is a great fan of Pilates and enjoys practising it herself as well as teaching Pilates classes and 121 sessions. Abi has been trained by the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) and has extensive experience in teaching both classes and 121 sessions. Abi currently teaches classes in our studio on a Tuesday morning and leads an advanced class online on a Tuesday evening.
Clinical interests include lower limb injuries, adolescent athletes, ante and post natal exercise and female health.
"Abi got me back on track, provided amazing support, advice and training programmes that enabled me to still reach my goal and complete the Silverstone Half Marathon in 2hrs 23mins, despite my knee injury. I can’t thank her enough".

"Abi is a true professional Pilates instructor. She demonstrates all the moves giving us excellent verbal detailed instructions plus additional hints to help us perfect the move which can make a huge difference! The programme varies from week to week, within the programme she offers her clients different levels of the moves to satisfy everyone. Abi also makes time to regularly check everyone to ensure the moves are being done correctly so all our efforts are making a difference to our bodies".
