Abi Okell BSc MCSP

Senior Chartered Physiotherapist

Abi graduated in 2010 with a first-class honours degree from Sheffield Hallam. Her professional journey began in the NHS, where she developed her skills in both inpatient and outpatient settings. In 2012, she embraced a unique opportunity in the French Alps, assessing and treating ski and snowboard injuries. This experience led to her role with British Parasnowsport, where she supported the team over four years at several World Cup races, World Championships, and the PyeongChang Winter Paralympic Games in 2018. Abi then transitioned to Lead Physiotherapist for GB Snowsport men's and women's Alpine ski teams, contributing to athlete success at major competitions, including the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022. Abi remains an integral part of the GB Snowsport support staff, primarily supporting Snowboard Cross athletes and leading initiatives for female athlete health.

Alongside her work with GB Snowsport, Abi also collaborates with British Gymnastics and has volunteered at prestigious events, including the 2017 IAAF World Athletics Championships and the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

In addition to traditional physiotherapy techniques, Abi is passionate about Pilates, both as a practitioner and instructor. Trained by the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI), she has over 10 years experience teaching both group classes and one-on-one sessions.

Clinical interests include lower limb injuries, adolescent athletes, ante and postnatal exercise, and female health. With a recent MSc in Sport and Exercise Medicine completed in 2023, Abi is committed to empowering individuals through tailored rehabilitation programs that promote recovery and enhance performance.

"Abi got me back on track, provided amazing support, advice and training programmes that enabled me to still reach my goal and complete the Silverstone Half Marathon in 2hrs 23mins, despite my knee injury. I can’t thank her enough".
